Sue combines theatre design with illustration using a unique visual language incorporating layers of papers, fabrics, stitch and monoprint, with a particular interest in the passing down of objects and skills through the generations. She is interested in finding ways of documenting collections of personal artefacts which hold meaning and memories for families, capturing shadows, traces, fragments and layers of time. Inspiration comes from old photographs, letters, post cards, household textiles, clothing, tools and a variety of other domestic items that reveal the hand of the original owner through wear and tear, darning and mending. Her work incorporates stitched lines to create drawings which capture stories and memories documenting these in a unique collaboration between disciplines involving a personal perspective.
